Children and Youth

It takes a whole village to raise our children.  At CGCC, we strive to be  the loving, nurturing, inclusive village where young lives are shaped and transformed.  These words come from one of our recently confirmed young people:  “Our church is our healing place.  We embrace being different, which is just one reason why I love my church.”  “I love this church, I really do,” says another confirmand, “I love how open and accepting it is.  The church is like my second family.” Our church is hopefully the place where our children glimpse the world as God would like it to be, and where young people of all ages joyfully respond to the calling of ministry, service, and spiritual formation.

Our historic church stays forever young with the flurry of youthful activity.  Every Wednesday night, Fellowship Hall is filled with families having dinner together in our Church Night In program.  After dinner, over 60 children head off to one of three choir rehearsals.  On Sunday mornings, our Arts and Education wing explodes with the energy of teachers and children exploring their faith together in Sunday School.

Aunt Mollie’s Youth House is home to our middle school and senior high youth groups for pizza and movie nights and a variety of other activities.  Our youth groups participate in the annual the Peace River Retreat and Canoe Trip and other state-wide youth events.   Throughout the year, our children and their families do a variety of inter-generational community service activities–mangrove plantings, coastal cleanups, and working in local food banks.

There is wealth of exciting activities and programming for every youth and child in our congregation.  Families, children, and youth are all invited to make CGCC their second home.  Come to church!  Wrap yourselves in the embrace of a loving, inclusive church family!
