Food for the Soul
Food for the Soul is a monthly luncheon gathering sponsored by our Board for Justice and Witness. A variety of social justice issues are highlighted by a series of guest speakers.
The Board of Justice and Witness invites you to attend another inspirational and moving session of Food for the Soul on Sunday, February 26. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Peter Makari, who will be offering his perspective of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
Dr. Makari is the Executive for the Middle East and Europe with Global Ministries of the United Church of Christ. He has served as the Vice Chair of the National Council of Churches’ Interfaith Relations Commission. For seven years, he lived in the Middle East, where he worked with the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS) in Cairo, Egypt (1991-1994), and then with the Middle East Council of Churches, based in Limassol, Cyprus (1997-2000). He earned an M.A. in Middle East Studies from the American University in Cairo (1993) and a Ph.D. in Politics and Middle East Studies from New York University (2003). He is the author of Conflict and Cooperation: Christian-Muslim Relations in Contemporary Egypt, (Syracuse University Press, 2007).
So please come and join us at Food for the Soul in the Moye Chapel, where a light lunch will be served and a very inspiring dialogue will feed our longing for justice and understanding.
